The feel of this song is just top tier. It's such a journey!

OVERSCORE responds:

Top tier? Top tier!!

I really like the melody of this one. It's really well arranged! Mixed with the good... mixing, it makes for a really good experience imo.

Good job! Keep it up!

SuperSoniker responds:

Thank you so much! :D

Damn, that is some good stuff! Didn't expect that sample to work that well here.

Oh, and welcome back to Newgrounds!

Dart-Music responds:

The sample really worked out good in the end, which honestly kinda took me by surprise too at first, but I rolled with it and made out a full track around it.

Also, I never really left NG, I've been simply coming here every once in a while to check in on some news but didn't upload anything due to not having tracks ready for release. Still feels nice to see people engaging with my tracks tho!

Damn, how was this made on SunVox?

acheney responds:

idk, you just kinda use it for three and a half years i guess

I feel that this track did do a good job at re-producing the Nightkilla dubstep style: from the tiny piano, to the cooker bass. Kudos to you for getting those details!

However, I feel like this song is mostly copy and paste. The intro, post drop and outro are virtually the same as each other, and so are the drops tempo aside.

Something that could have made this song a bit more interesting could have been a half time drum pattern on the first drop for instance, or a Nightkilla style piano in the post drop, or maybe make the eerie sound more interesting on the outro by slowly covering it in reverb with an automation.

I hope these ideas help on your next tracks. Keep it up!

ill make sure to keep that in mind! thx

I think this song is pretty good! However, there is one thing I would personally change:

I feel like the instruments clash a lot, and thus they end up sounding a bit unclear. You could probably fix this with some EQ and more careful sidechaining/ducking. Although the general idea is great, it could have used much more work in the mixing aspect.

That aside, an overall wonderful job. Keep it up!

FarFromSundown responds:

Thanks man! I always really appreciate your honest feedback!

Wow, this one's long. Sorry for taking so long to review this btw, just haven't used NG much recently ;(

Let's begin with the goods:

I love the Porter Robinson feel this song has. It truly feels like a journey through another world. The section at 2:53 is really interesting. I especially love the bass, it sounds so analog. 3:24 is pretty good as well in my opinion, and it sounds unknown and mysterious in a way.

On 4:26, there goes that lovely bass transition again, and it is just as good. I like how after this, it goes back to the drop slightly different, then goes back to the intro.

6:06 is really good, although I feel like it needs tighter reverb.

The outro is really good, I wouldn't change much at all there honestly.

Now for the change I would make:

I feel that generally, you want to use reverb carefully, because if you mess up the reverb, the whole mix will start sounding like stuff is clashing together. First thing's first, I noticed you put reverb on the really nice bass you used.

Here what I would make sure to do is cut the reverb's lows (from what I know of SunVox, you can do this by connecting your synth to both the output and the reverb, but connecting the reverb to an equalizer with high and middle active and connect that equalizer to the output).

Do this for EVERYTHING. Reverb instantly turns your synth's signal into stereo mode, so if you don't equalize it with the required amount of care, it'll stereo the bass frequencies and ruin the mix.

Also, one more tip, equalize the low frequencies out of everything except for the bass, sub and kick. Do this carefully.

Anyways, that's all I had to say really.
TL;DR - This song is fantastic, but the mixing is limiting its quality.

Can't wait for your next projects! (There are probably a few I missed, but ykwim.)

Thank you for the mixing advice! Mixing is probably my worst area, I need all the help I can get here. I’ll try out some of your tips.

Uuuuu, I see what you are doing here!

I agree with the guy below me, this track is really fun and bouncy. I also really liked the half-time-ish part around 1 minute into the song. FWIW, this track is pretty interesting!

A small problem: the kick sounds strange. Let me elaborate: usually, house music has a really punchy sound, but the kick doesn't respect that very much, and it sounds sort of like a strangely deep sine wave. The easy fix here is to just use a punchier sample for your kick, but what do I know of SunVox? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's really it for issues. The rest is phenomenal as expected from you, so don't worry!

Stay awesome! <3

OVERSCORE responds:

Yes, making a genuine kick is a bit difficult on SunVox. I think I can fix it though, since I haven’t uploaded it anywhere else. *no one needs to know* XD

UPD: And there was punchy kick

Damn bro, I wish I had this kind of inspiration. Not only your music is improving from both a melodic sense and a technical sense, but you are not running out of ideas.

This, alongside all your recent stuff, truly inspires me ngl, especially since I suck at making new ideas atm xD.

Jokes aside, keep up the good work!

OVERSCORE responds:

You think I’m not running out of ideas? XD

YOOO FRONTPAGE LET'S GOOO!!!!! (also cool tune)

OVERSCORE responds:

Haha, thank you
